March was busy, busy, busy. We spent spring break in Show Low because we hadn't been up to see the Ellsworths or Denhams in a while. While we were there, Gwen got really sick. She started throwing up and couldn't stop. We decided to start our trek home despite her being ill, and she stopped after hours--poor baby. While we were driving, I started to feel sick, too. I am great at sympathy sickness, so I figured it was that. After I couldn't stop feeling horrible, I realized I might be pregnant! I took a test immediately and found out I was! What a miracle. Jake and I were just about to begin another round of fertility treatments and we were just waiting on timing and cycles. I was supposed to call my doctor to get started, but they beat me to it. That was the best phone call I've had in a while. Before I could call the office to tell them, they called me knowing I could be somewhere early in my next cycle. I exuberantly told them, "I'm pregnant! I don't think I need to come in!" I could hear the front office congratulate me and it was the best.
Because I was waiting to start fertility meds, we knew extremely early on that I was pregnant. I'm due in November and really feel terrible, so we are extra happy.
In the middle of the month, I had to go to Glendale to get CEs for my dental hygiene license. It was hard to drive out there because I already was feeling so nauseas and sick. My classes were incredible. One was led by a dentist who served prison time for insurance fraud--his class was amazing. He discussed common errors made in our coding and notes. Another class I attended was all about dental forensics and how dental records are used in identifying missing and deceased persons. That one was more tough to be in because it was very photograph heavy so my nausea and the pictures did not always get along. Overall, it was one of the best conferences I've been to.
Emily started going to occupational therapy. She has struggled with cooling off after being mad and any kind of transition (coming home from school, needing to go to ballet, having a change in plans) and a friend of mine told me that her boys had really benefited from OT. I didn't know much about OT, other than I thought it was something you do when you break a hand and are trying to regain fine motor skills. Boy, have we learned! Our therapist is incredible. From day one, Jake and I have been in awe of her. She is unwavering and kind, firm and expects a lot from Emily. The first few weeks were very hard to Em, but now she looks forward to it each week. It's almost like a workout sometimes! After sessions, she'll get in the car and take a rest on the way back to school. Emily is such a determined woman. She digs in her heels when things get hard, and we are proud of the way she works hard to finish tasks.
Gwen turned 8!!!! We had a birthday party and invited her whole class from school. It was a blast and I couldn't have managed it without Rachelle! She saw my need and handled things without me even thinking about them! We had cotton candy, popcorn, and cake! It was a sugar fueled afternoon and I'm sure everyone crashed the second they left. Gwen has loved being 8. She loves activity days and looks forward to going every other week. She is also improving at soccer. She is so fast and works hard!
Jake has been working up a storm. He is fully back to traveling and flies almost every other week. He's recently been to Chicago, Colorado, Utah, and more. He's thrilled with the Suns right now and has been to a few games! Go Suns!
