May 2022 and Walt Disney World

We had one more reason to get up to the mountains in May. We needed to get to Ridge's baptism! We went up that first weekend and it was a fast trip. We drove up Friday night, partied hard at the baptism, and drove home Saturday afternoon.

Jake was in charge of conducting our church meetings for the month, and we needed to get back so he could conduct on Mother's Day.

As soon as we made it home, we got packed and cleaned for our next adventure, DISNEYWORLD! Jake's work was having a meeting in Florida and putting them up in a Disney resort. We decided to tag along and hit up the parks while he was busy in meetings. This was a big decision for us because I was/am still feeling so crappy. I talked to a few friends over and over about whether this was smart or not. I told Jake that if we came, I'd probably get sick the day we got back from running on so much adrenaline. (Spoiler alert, I was right!) Anyway, we decided to go!

We stayed at a resort near the Animal Kingdom called Coronado Springs. I did a lot of comparing and contrasting this resort to the Grand Californian. We got in to Florida around 2 am. The girls were overly tired, but once they fell asleep, we all slept until 10 am! It was great. The resort had this amazing pool called The Dig Site. It looked like a Mayan temple with jaguars hidden throughout the pool area. The weather was great for us.

We played at Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. Because everyone is so invested in my opinions, here they are. DisneyWorld is so much larger and spread out than we're used to. Each day we left the parks early because we did most of the things we wanted to, and there weren't as many shows. The band in Florida is top notch. We loved following them around. The churros were terrible. Terrible. I didn't know that churros were a California thing but I learned they were very quickly.

Our resort had a bridge we had to cross to get everywhere. The bridge was about 1/2 mile long, and we needed to take it multiple times a day. Each day, Gwen and Emily hoped and tried to see a gator, but we never did. This left them wondering if they were real. Ha! I love them so much.

On the last day, Jake and I were packing up and told the girls to use up some bubble liquid we had leftover since it wouldn't be allowed on the plane. It got quiet, but we didn't think much of it. Then Jake looked at me. And I looked at him. And he looked at me. And I looked at him. And we both knew they were doorbell ditching our neighbors. We ran outside and called them in. They were laughing so hard and we were like NOOOOOOOO!!!!! These other people could have come in as late as we did! Or they could have stayed late a Disney the nigh before! Or they could be napping! NOOOO!!! The girls were so sad and we were so mad! Hahahah!!!! It's funny now, but it was not! I'm so sorry to them, and I expect the bad karma to get us next time we visit Disney.

Jake is getting ready be an assistant high school basketball coach, and is really excited for that to begin. He's also going to be going to Young Men's camp at the very end of the month. He is going to glamp with one of our ward member's travel trailer. He's so pumped.

Emily had her kindergarten program and sang to us about the things she learned. Then she got to recite a line and she did it perfectly! She is such a great memorizer. She loved showing up her class one last time, and was so proud of her graduation cap. We're hoping she gets Gwen's last teacher, Ms. Redd! Gwen had her for 1st and 2nd grade, and now Ms. Redd is going back to teaching 1st grade. Cross your fingers, people!

We had one more baptism towards the end of the month, and celebrated Jeremy!! Now the next one is in the fall, and we will have a little baptism break!

The girls are out of school for the summer, and we're looking forward to swim teams, boredom busters, swim parties, breakfast and lunch at the schools, camping, and lots of relaxing!

At animal kingdom on a walking safari. The tigers were put away.

Swiss Family Robinson treehouse!

Animal kingdom tree. It was incredible. Jake's favorite ride was here, the flight avatar one.

Emily at the hotel checking in. So happy for 2 am.

This castle is massive and had the most beautiful mosaic tile.

The highlight of Emily's trip.

They planned this themselves.

THE BEST DAY OF EMILY'S LIFE.

Last day of kindergarten.

Last day of 2nd grade.

Eating at Belle's castle. The food was so good I cried. I cried because I couldn't eat more since my nausea was flaring. Only two bites of steak in and I thought I was going to vomit. Tears.

Decorating dessert at Belle's castle.

The more I look, the better it gets.
