Jake's 35th Birthday and a Photo Dump

Yesterday was a big birthday for our favorite guy!! We woke him up with sourdough waffles, kiwi, homemade buttermilk syrup, egg whites with tabasco and a fresh Red Bull. His fave!

Gwen, Emily, and I all saved money to get Jake presents. I got Jake a Traeger smoker, Emily got him a pool floaty for relaxing and a top golf gift card, and Gwen got him a really cool tie! Jake got himself some shoes and a slab of meat for his first smoking project! (It was brisket!)

For lunch, Jake requested Benihana. We had never been because we usually would go to Ah-So which is really similar, but they closed down because of Covid. It was great. Our chef's name was Juan, and he was so funny for Gwen and Emily. We got the lunch specials and they came with ice cream which was pretty stellar for us!

After lunch, we took naps and quiet time----praise be. Jake tended to his brisket all day! He loved it! He was on YouTube getting tips and tricks for so long and we loved it.

Dinner was brisket, asparagus, and sourdough bread. We invited a few friends over and celebrated Jake with a raspberry cheesecake. As our Gillespie friends left, they each told Jake a thing they liked about him, and it was so sweet. I'm going to start doing that for birthdays. They were really sincere things, too! Nicole said that she likes that Jake is a good listener and non judgmental. Samson told Jake he liked that he could always come over and play! It was just fun.

Jake and I finished the night with an episode of Survivor. It was great. Normally Jake does all the dishes in this house, and we made sure to not leave a single plate in the sink so we could force a whole day off!

Jake is such a great guy. He is respectful and always willing to learn. He works hard to perfect his crafts, whether that's cooking an incredible steak, knowing every product line at work, or teaching our daughters about puberty! He is hard working, but manages his time with near perfection-- always having time to spend with each of us individually. I'm glad I've gotten to spend the last 14 birthdays with him and I'm excited and hopeful to spend the next 50 with him.
