MARCH 2020
COVID-19 edition
March started out pretty normal for us. We celebrated Jake's birthday, enjoyed the parks, and went on several car rides!
Gwen's school planned on taking spring break, and then my school would take spring break the next week. All went well with the first spring break. We started to hear that the chances of the kids not going back to school was pretty great, so I planned on them being home with me during my work spring break. I was glad for the updates from my work because they were realistic with the fact that we likely would not be going back to work/school. When word hit that school wouldn't be back we created multiple schedules for routines and life here has been relatively normal.
Prior to the shut down for the rest of the school year, the girls and I took the time to declutter closets and everything else! We all wanted to have a yard sale (the girls were excited to sell toys they don't love anymore, cookies, and lemonade) and I was exciting to make some money for things we weren't using. We had gone to the neighbors to discuss doing a neighborhood sale and determined a date--in April. Joke's on us! Since the shut down, we have sold a few larger items online and ultimately donated the rest.
Gwen and Emily recently grew an even larger love of makeup! Gwen's bestie got makeup for Christmas, and we went over in March for a movie playdate! Emily and Gwen both came home with full faces of makeup, and they were hooked after the makeovers. Gwen received a birthday gift of makeup, and she has been living large and giving so many makeovers to all of us, Jake included!
We celebrated a simple St. Patrick's Day with green shirts and mustaches, corned beef and cabbage, and cookie painting some cool cookies from Allisa!
We had our favorite family photographer come over to do some updated pictures for our living room. We have been having Kylie Pond take our pictures since our NAU/Flagstaff days! We love her and she is so talented! When she took the pictures, we couldn't decide which pictures to use so we ended up adding an entire row of frames to our wall to display all of them!
Some activities we've enjoyed since being home from school and work:
Stuffed animal zoo
Nature walks
Rock hunting
Spa days
Decorating day
Movie day (my personal favorite! haha)
Back to Gwen's birthday. We had planned on doing a party this year, and ended up not being able to. A friend gave us the idea of doing a drive up birthday! We called family and a few friends and asked them to drive by for cake and it was awesome! We had great visitors come sing and we gave each one some cake! Gwen felt so loved and it was such a simple and great idea! I loved it so much!
Emily gave herself a haircut. We had just had a haircut day and I gave everyone a cut. I asked her if she wanted bangs and showed her a picture, and she said no. The next day I hadn't heard from her in quite some time, but chalked it up to her playing by herself, which she is typically very good at! WRONG! I called her name and she came out with a cut! She did her own bangs! She didn't do a terrible job either! I blended it a little, and she was very cute. We did have the major conversation of "don't ever do that again!" but it was great.
