May 2026

Gwen finished elementary school!!! She went to her final band concert and her final field trip. She played in the 6th graders versus teachers softball game and was the unofficial MVP! At the final pool party, a lifeguard hit her in the forehead with a wrench. She ended up having a pretty big gash and the school didn't call us right away. We ended up taking her for some glue, and she "graduated" with a blue forehead. She did enjoy some of the attention from everyone asking how she was. It's looking pretty decent now, but we expect some scarring to happen, and we want to create some kind of protocol for head injuries for the school district. It's wild that something like that doesn't exist yet.

Gwen has been trying to go to the temple each month for baptisms for the dead, and so far she's done it!

Gwen finished up her season with Bullseye basketball. She is pretty competitive and she got ejected for shoving someone. Imagine me being stressed.

Emily's final soccer games were incredible. They got third place in soccer and would've gotten either second or first, but they had to forfeit a chance in the final bracket because some parents and coaches were inappropriately yelling at one another over the game. It was lame. I think they forget that these are CHILDREN'S sports, and that kind of parental overstepping just makes kids not want to play anymore. I will now step off my soap box.

Emily had an end of year pool party. It was a great time and we're thankful for her sweet friends.

The girls did piano achievement day and their final recital. They are growing so much and I love hearing their practicing!

We went to a fundraiser at Westwood and it was a blast. We had BBQ, played on bounce houses, and talked with friends.

Meredith and her kids did swim lessons in May, June, and July, and they have been staying with us. It's been a once in a lifetime summer. The big kids do "adventure" each day. They have to leave the house and stick together for a few hours. They've gotten into church buildings to cook ramen, they've swam at random neighbors pools and city pools, they've fought, and they've honestly loved it. I know they may not remember always getting along but they'll look back at this summer with nostalgia and I'm happy for them!

Grandma Julia passed away. We celebrated her life and legacy together. We miss her and miss driving by her old house. Her funeral was beautiful and we loved talking with family.
