May 2021

 May has been so fun!

School parties galore, recitals, birthday parties, Memorial Day weekend, girls camp, and trips to the Salt River filled our time!

GWEN UPDATES

Gwen had a consultation to get braces with Williams Ortho at the beginning of the month. She left the office with a pretty cool t-shirt and some fancy spacers in between her molars to prep for full orthodontics. She was not happy about the spacers, but could've dealt with them had she not been feeling so crappy in general. She got a fever the weekend before and still felt groggy and it really exacerbated how annoying the spacers were. Based on her hard time that week, we cancelled the appointment to do full braces and I feel so good about waiting a few more years. She is congenitally missing some premolars so we went in for as much information as we could get, and waiting will do no harm.

Gwennie poo continued playing soccer games on Saturdays and having practices on Wednesday. She is so good! She has no fear and runs to attack and defend non stop. One of our games got added to the end of the soccer schedule due to irrigation, so the championship game was a hot and heated event! It was literally hot, and a truly heated match! Gwen got recruited by some other team members' mommas. They want her to be on their boys team, and their boys are LEGIT players. I felt so proud! ha!

Gwen's end of year recital for Let's Play Music was the same day at the championship game. Both the Ellsworth and Denham grandparents trekked into town to see her in both events, and it was so sweet to hear G talk to her friends about her grandparents being here.

EMILY UPDATES

Emily sang in church with Gwen on Mother's Day and it was the first time she'd ever gone up! She was stellar. I always think of her as a little more quiet/introverted, but she knows her moment, and she shone! She sang her parts and I could hear her from my seat. I had an expectation for my girls to be musical, and whenever they show that they are, I get emotional!

Em is quite the bread maker. For Mother's Day, I got a Bosch. Emily has helped me make several batches of bread, and is quite cute when we smell the yeast, see the growth, roll out the dough and share with friends. She is always trying to give people goodies. Today after church, she asked if we could make cookies. I replied, "Yep!" and then did a Cookie Monster sound, and she said, "Not for you, Mom. For Wes and my boy friends." Sad for me.

Emily is starting to become friends with kids at church! As mentioned before, she has a set of brothers (her boy friends) she loves. I serve with the boy's momma in our youth group at church, and have known her kids for a long time, but with Covid and primary being shut down, Emily didn't know anyone her own age. Since church youth are meeting again Emily has met and developed love for all of her classmates. She loves Edie, Wes, Jonah, Nolan and Corban. She talks about all of them so much and prays that we can play with them all the time.

VERITY and JAKE

I went with the Bishop women to Sedona for a girls trip. We had a lovely Air BNB, and it was so relaxing and beautiful! I loved spending time with Sara, Rachel, Chelsey, and Jan! We hiked, ate so much, played games, had cry sessions, and got a great Jacuzzi session! I hope it becomes a regular thing. One game we played was called Sketchy Tales. It's like Telestrations, but Disney! Chelsey cracked us all up by guessing a character was named Tina. I'll never forget laughing as hard as I did from sheer confusion! I'm manifesting that it becomes yearly. I'm just going to mention it over and over and it'll happen!

Jake and I both went to girls camp. We went to Flagstaff and stayed in a mansion, and we sweetly renamed it the cozy little cottage to make ourselves laugh! On the first day, we did the extreme adventure course and the amount of Gospel allegories from the course was incredible. We used two click in magnets to ensure we were tied in and safe. Only one magnet could be released at a time, and while in the trees, both magnets have to be on at all times. The magnets easily represented Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. We can always feel safe when we are harnessed in with them. It can be scary even though we know we are safe. It can be hard even if we know we can't fail. I loved it. I want to go back. We all got wind burns on our lips, and I was so dehydrated and hungry that I ended early just for chapstick and water. Next time we go, I'll bring a fanny pack with snacks and SPF!

Jake attended camp as one of our male leaders. He was such a support. If anything was needed by anyone, he was quick to get it. He enjoyed renting a bike and riding a few times a day. It was fun to be back in Flagstaff and make us both miss it!

Jacob found a dog in our yard and wandering around our neighborhood. We frequently find strays and take care of them until we find their people, but we had no luck with this yellow lab, so we've named her Honey. She had ticks and no microchip, so we got her started on meds asap. She is so scared and lays down all day. The vet said she likely hasn't gone outside much. It's so sad. Jake said that even if we found her owner, he wouldn't give her back. She's here, pooping up a storm. That's a lot of info, but it's true and someday I'll want to remember how she has had diarrhea in our backyard from eating normal food. We're trying to find a place for her. She's a shedder, so we can't keep her, but she has the best temperament.

Next month we have our 11th anniversary, cousin camp with Grammy Jan and Papa Chris, Hawaii, summer school, and swim team! Hooray for summer!!!!!!!

Again, all of these pictures are out of order. Blogger is terribly annoying. I'm trying to find out if I can switch all of my posts to a new source.
